The Common Clubtail Dragonfly is a near threatened species restricted to a handful of unpolluted, slow flowing rivers in England and Wales. More understanding of the population size and distribution of this dragonfly is urgently needed to conserve it. Records for this elusive species are patchy and dated.
The British Dragonfly Society is asking anyone who goes near the rivers Wye, Welsh Dee, Middle Thames, Kennet, Middle Severn, Devon Otter or Sussex a river to help in the conservation of this symbolic riverine dragonfly. Anglers are in an ideal position to contribute to this survey and no previous experience or knowledge of dragonflies is needed.
