Local Co-op Supporting Our Work

Tuesday 4th December, 2018

The Foundation’s fundraising auction has now entered its final week. Bidding ending next Sunday evening at 8.30pm and there are some great lots to bid for, some of which are exclusive to our auction. Please don’t miss out and take a look here!

Simon Evans, WUFs Chief Executive, showing river walk attendees a spawned out Usk salmonWe would like to thank everyone who attended our Autumn Riverwalk a couple of Sundays ago. We very much hope you enjoyed the day. This year’s walk focussed on the Usk catchment and while we are always somewhat in the lap of the gods for these events, we did see some salmon spawning activity. The weather was good too which is never guaranteed at this time of year!

Thank you for your support!

We would also like to acknowledge some very generous support the Foundation has received recently. Last weekend we were very grateful to accept a cheque for £3,136.91 from our local Co-op store in Talgarth towards the “Wye and Usk Foundation Young Volunteers”. The money, raised via the Co-op’s Local Community Fund, will be put to good use providing learning opportunities about our amazing rivers for local children and young people. Our thanks to all Co-op members for supporting us and especially local members for nominating the Foundation as one of their chosen local charities.

The company’s Managing Director, Simon MacLucas, is an avid salmon and sea trout angler.

There are, of course, many other people and organisations who have supported the Foundation. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who has donated or given up their free time to help restore and protect the two rivers.

Please help us fundraise this December!

Bid for a day coarse fishing with TV presenter Will Millard in our online auction! While on the subject of fundraising, the Foundation is now registered with Amazon Smile, which means you can help raise funds for the rivers every time you buy something on Amazon. Please help by selecting us as your chosen charity here. It takes one click and costs you nothing!

And finally, we have again produced our own Christmas card with a beautiful winter river scene. This is another way of supporting our work and these along with other gift ideas can be purchased via the Fishing Passport website.

The Wye Catchment Partnership was formed in 2014. It brings together organisations, initiatives and individuals who have a shared interest in the Wye catchment. The collaboration of these partners delivers improvements in areas such as water quality, water quantity and wildlife. The partnership is hosted by the Wye & Usk Foundation and Natural Resources Wales. It has a diverse membership with representatives from river, wildlife and conservation trusts, governmental organisations, private forestry, farming unions, water companies, local companies as well as individuals interested in the river. The Wye Catchment Partnership has its own website.

A charity concerned with education, restoring habitat, water quality and fisheries.
