We were holding out hope that after a dire May on the salmon front (which was replicated nationally) the last spring tides of May and írst of June would see the main run of 2 sea winter salmon arrive. We have been helped by the weather breaking and both rivers receiving small lifts which has cleared the algae and dropped the water temperature in the lower Wye. There is more rain in the forecast, which might allow a few fish to reach the Upper River. These June fish run hard if they get half a chance.
