Biodiversity Assessments

The Foundation offers a wide range of biodiversity assessment services carried out by trained staff. These include:

DEFRA’s Biodiversity Metric 3.0

A biodiversity accounting tool used for assessing net change in biodiversity pre to post-intervention or development. Can be used for calculating biodiversity net gain.

River Condition Assessment (RCA)

Provides a measurement of biodiversity within the river channel itself and along the riparian corridor. The RCA feeds into the river section of the biodiversity metric.

NATURE Tool

Calculates the impact of land-use change on ecosystem services, including physical and mental health, and biodiversity. NATURE incorporates the results of the Biodiversity Metric when calculating impact. WUF was chosen as a case study partner for the trial of the NATURE tool, with the official version of the tool set to be released in late July 2021.
