The Foundation’s latest project is funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, hence its rather unimaginative name – EMFF!
This is a partnership project between the six rivers trusts in Wales and Natural Resources Wales, managed by our umbrella organisation Afonydd Cymru. Starting in autumn 2018, the Foundation’s remit within the project is to boost fish stocks in the Wye and Usk catchments by restoring juvenile habitat and access to spawning grounds.
EMFF will also contribute to our Elan gravel initiative and the liming work to correct acidity in the upper Wye and Irfon.
So far we have completed habitat improvement work on the Edw (Wye tributary). Our attention now turns to the Usk. We are currently securing consents for repairing damaged habitats on upper river tributaries such as the Senni, Ysgir and Caerfanell.
