R1.0 requires a Range Management Plan which includes; strategy for heavily worn and poached areas, planned rotation of range areas, details of management of the area directly outside the popholes

R1.4 requires that the range is actively managed to:

a) encourage birds outside, away from the popholes and to use the area fully,

b) prevent and/or manage heavily poached/muddy/worn areas and,

c) minimise any build up of parasites or disease. Additional information alongside this standard includes recommendations for managing the range including paddock rotation and restricting access to wornareas to allow regrowth.

Additionally the Recommendations include:

POULTRY (LAYERS)
Prevent soil and nutrient losses from range areas on free-range sites using appropriate measures e.g vegetative buffers
