These regulations relate to standards for construction of storage for slurry, silage and farm fuels and minimum storage periods. Slurry is defined as a liquid or semi-liquid matter composed of excreta (+bedding) that can be pumped or discharged by gravity.
English SSAFO regulations require a minimum of 4 months storage capacity for farms not in NVZ areas (In NVZ areas storage requirements are 5 months for slurry, 6 months for pig and poultry manure).
Welsh SSAFO regulations that relate to manure storage periods have been superseded by the CoAP regulations which require 5 months for slurry, 6 months for pig and poultry manure.
