Groundwater Protection Code – Sheep Dip

The Groundwater Protection code sets out rules relating to groundwater protection from sheep dip and require; do not dip if rain is forecast within 24 hours; keep sheep away from watercourses and wetlands for as long as possible and ideally at least 2 weeks after dipping. The rules also relate to handling of spent dip, permit requirement for spreading to land, certificates of competence for operators and the siting of the dipping bath; 10m from a watercourse, 50m from a borehole, spring or well, 30m from a watercourses draining to a SAC or SSSI site and avoiding locations in flood plain or those with a high water table
